California Just Incinerated the State's Wildfire Records
California's wildfires have scorched more than 3.1 million acres so far, surpassing the 2018 record of 1.96 million acres. At one point, parts of the state had some of the world’s dirtiest air. Record temperatures during a lingering heatwave created the perfect conditions for infernos.
