How to make a bowl - wood carving skills
I use raw birch to make the bowl.

To make a bowl, you need the following tools:

I used wood wedges to secure the workpiece. It is very important to observe safety precautions. Since the bowl is large, it is more convenient to fasten it to the workbench with a thick rope, which I press down with my foot. This can be seen very clearly in the video. When the bowl is secured, it is very convenient to use a straight chisel to shape the bowl.

How to dry wood properly after you have carved a piece:
You need to wrap the product in a dry cotton cloth. Place the workpiece in a dry place. it is advisable to avoid direct heating by the sun or other heat sources. Avoid drafts. The rag needs to be changed every day. After about 2-3 weeks, the product will be dry. But this will depend on the thickness of the sides of the bowl or mug.

How to protect your bowl from water:
You can soak the product with linseed oil. You need to soak the product very well and leave it for two to three months. This is necessary in order for the linseed oil to fully polymerize. Only then can the plate be used. The polymerization process is catalyzed by ultraviolet light and oxygen.
