The Worst Way To Get "Free" Bees

Every year I do four or five bee hive removals from columns. They are always difficult and you rarely ever end up with a good colony of bees or any edible honey. Even if disassembly of the column is possible masonry columns are so messy you just about ruin everything during the demolition. Column removals rank right up there with high work on my "I hate this job" scale. In general I like doing bee removals but high work and columns are jobs that I think very seriously about turning down. Whether fortunate or unfortunate, by the time some of these people have my phone number they have already been through a long list of folks who either couldn't or wouldn't do the work leaving me as one of their last options. The funny thing is that even knowing how hard they've worked to find someone who would even do the job they still act surprised that we won't work for free bees. They never complain though once they see what it took to get the bees out and do all the necessary preventative work so that we don't have to come back the next season.
