The writer, the legendary bard, Purushottam Choudhary, an 18th century Bengali revenue officer in the East India Company, was so grief and guilt stricken ( for some unknown crime/lapse in his life), that he hid himself in a ditch for 2 full days, and birthed this song. Pranam Kamlakar, has treated this song so delicately, and handled all the emotions that this song evokes so wonderfully. Listen and be truly blessed by the singers who inspire us to cry out to God saying "Thrahimam - my soul cries and thirsts for you!!" ! Beautiful.
