Misogyny in Hip Hop | Ellen Chamberlain | TEDxWayneStateU

Ellen goes through the history of hip hop and how misogyny has been incorporated in the art throughout time. She pushes for a call for music listeners to shift their playlist to music that actually represents the culture and provides more meaning. Ellen Chamberlain is a native of Southfield, Michigan. As a youth she was active in theatre, dance and music programs at her schools and her church. Ellen has worked as a radio personality, voice over artist and freelance writer. She is a member of the Journalism Institute of Media Diversity at Wayne State and is majoring in broadcast journalism. Ellen hopes to further her career in media with a concentration on entertainment. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
