Fats Domino - One For The Highway - early May 1968
Recorded early May 1968
(w&m: Antoine "Fats" Domino)
Fats' 1st* recording from his 99th session (L-5367)
b-side of "Honest Papas Love Their Mamas Better" on Reprise 0696
45RPM release: June 1968
First album release: "Fats Is Back", Reprise RS-6304.
Released: September 1968
unknown location, Las Vegas**, Nevada
Antoine Domino(v), King Curtis(tsSOLO),James Booker(p), Eric Gale or Mike Deasy(g), Chuck Rainy(b), Hal Blaine or Earl Palmer or Herb Lovelle(d),
Producer: Richard Perry
Arranger: Randy Newman
Engineer(s): And/or Eddie Smith, Gene Schively, George Piros, Harry Yarmark, Lee Herschberg.
*Excact amount of recorded songs in this and following session is unknown to me. Usually he recorded 4 songs in one session. Looking at the Matrix no. this could well be a 2-day session with the next session.
** Uncertain about the location. Some sources say that Fats recorded in New York or Las Vegas. Fats told Jos A. that he added all his Reprise vocals in Los Angeles (Hollywood). It is possible that the backing-tracks were recorded in either New York or Las Vegas.
Previous to this recording, Fats recorded (among other songs?) "Since I Don't Have You"(L-4837)(unreleased)
