U-Matic S tape containing footage shot at the 1984 African World Festival at Hart Plaza on Friday, August 23. The footage includes musicians, food, vendors, and attendees.

The tape begins with a brief segment where voices and music can be heard, but there is no picture. The visuals begins with a jazz-fusion band performing in the amphitheater, in front of an "African World Festival '84" banner. After several minutes of the band, the camera rotates around to pan across the crowd. Many of the people wear professional clothing, and two men wear Shriner regalia.

Then the camera moves to Hart Plaza's underground food court area for shots of two stalls. The first has a long line and serves hot dogs and fish. The second appears to serve meat dishes.

The camera then returns to the surface for shots of the vendors' area. The portion of the video is silent. Jewelry, drawings, paintings, textiles, and sculpture are among the featured items. Painter Carl Owens is shown seated at his stall. A trailer from the Afro-American Museum of Detroit is also set up at the event.

The video is on a 3M UCA-20 U-Matic S tape with a City of Detroit Department of Public Information label on its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching case with a matching label on its cover.
