Ames Moot Court Competition 1994
The case Bottomless Beer Company v. Rosebud Sioux Tribal Court, Rosebud Sioux Court of Appeals, Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and Estate of Tasunke Witko a.k.a. Crazy Horse was argued in November 1994, at the Ames Moot Court Competition. The presiding judges were Hon. Ruth Bader Ginsburg '56-'58, Associate Justice, U.S. Supreme Court; Hon. Sam J. Ervin, III LL.B '51, Chief Judge, The U.S. Court of Appeals for The Fourth Circuit; Hon. Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain, U.S. Court of Appeals for The Ninth Circuit.
The Ames Competition, held in the historic Ames Courtroom of Harvard Law School, is one of the most prestigious competitions for appellate brief writing and advocacy in the country. The students participating in the Final Round started the competition in fall of their 2L year. Two teams progressed to the Final Round through their strong research abilities and excellent written and oral advocacy.
