ZeroAvia Hydrogen Aviation Summit 2021: Day 1
ZeroAvia Hydrogen Aviation Summit 2021 (Day 1): Spearheading R&D
Master of Ceremonies: Lisa Ann Pinkerton, Founder and CEO at Technica Communications
Keynote: Robert Courts MP, UK Aviation Minister
--
Session 1: Hydrogen is Here – Powerplant R&D Deep Dive
Session Chair: Valery Miftakhov, Founder & CEO, ZeroAvia
Zero-emission aviation is taking off, and with some countries restricting regional flights to manage climate change, low-carbon solutions are needed now. The market of hydrogen aviation solutions continues to expand.
In this session, the audiences will hear from key players who are driving the technological development of hydrogen in aviation. Attendees will learn about the latest research surrounding fuel cells, liquid hydrogen and hydrogen-hybrid solutions. Participants come away with a firm grasp of why hydrogen is critical for the future of aviation and how forward-looking players can act now to take leading positions for years to come.
Speakers:
Pasha Saleh, Head of Corporate Development, Alaska Airlines
Chris Gear, Project Director Fly Zero, Aerospace Technology Institute
Karl Samuelsson, Director Research & Development, Powercell Sweden AB
Glenn Llewellyn, VP, Zero Emission Aircraft, Airbus
--
Session 2: Convergence of Technology Advancement
Session Chair: Robert Llewellyn, Founder and Joint CEO, Fully Charged
With the aviation industry looking toward alternative fueling sources, innovators must also take into account other aspects of aircraft design and the underlying technology. The technical configuration of hydrogen powered flight requires addressing components of the entire aircraft and balancing inefficiencies with opportunities to leverage system strengths and fill inefficiencies.
This session will focus on several key components that are imperative to making zero-emission aircraft a reality. The audience will leave with an understanding of how modern technology has made hydrogen creation, tank design, stacks, and motors the ultimate cocktail for zero-carbon flight, as well as the role of highly complex software in driving fuel cell operations.
Speakers:
Margaret Haswell, Business Development and Maintenance Engineering Manager at MHIRJ
Craig Knight, Hyzon Motors CEO
Matt Buchholz, Business Development Manager, Hexagon Purus
Alex Ivanenko, Founder, CEO at Hypoint
