A Tudor Submariner Story: A 46-Year Journey

What is a watch worth? Is it the market value on a spreadsheet, or the 46 years of scratches etched into the steel? Today, I’m sharing the story of my brother-in-law Jeff’s 1980 Tudor Prince Oysterdate Submariner (Ref. 94110).

This isn't a typical spec-heavy review. Instead, it’s a look at how a watch lives a life—from the rugged outdoors to a precision restoration at Beyer Chronometrie in Zurich, and finally, how it inspired my own journey with pieces like the Spinnaker Piccard.

We explore the transition from its original Tritium dial to the glowing LumiNova service dial, the charm of the "jingle-jangle" vintage bracelet, and that unmistakable "top hat" acrylic crystal. Whether it’s a luxury icon or an affordable favorite, the best watches are the ones that stay on the wrist long enough to tell a story.

Note on Visuals:
To help bring the early parts of this 40-year story to life, I utilized AI-generated sketches to illustrate specific memories. All watch footage, B-roll, and hands-on segments are 100% real video of the actual timepieces.
