Ohio State Marching Band Marches to the Shoe on Blackout Night shot from Rotunda 10 17 2015

A Unique and fun view of The Ohio State Marching Band marching to Ohio Stadium after the Skull Session at the Penn State game on October 17, 2015. Shot from the center balcony of the Rotunda on the North end of Ohio Stadium. This game was a "Blackout" game. Fans and players wore black, so the view of Band marching through the black-clad fans at Twilight with only street-light lighting is unique.

Note the bass drummer who rushes ahead of the rest of his Row as the Band enters the stadium. He strikes a plaque at the entrance in a ritual reminiscent of the "Three Knocks" performed by the Drum Major.

Here is a note from a former bass drummer from JI Row, Alex Calderone, (also in comments section) concerning the drummer who strikes the plaque at the entrance: " The bass drummer continues what used to be the drum major's tradition of knocking on a wooden door outside the stadium, to "let them know the band had arrived." Nowadays, the drummer maintains today's version of the "three knocks" outside the stadium by hitting a large metal plaque, while the drum major has his/her own "Three Knocks" ritual inside the stadium (just to the left of the ramp). If you search for that three knocks ritual, the drum major one inside usually comes up."

A video of the Drum Major's 3-knocks ritual is also posted on this channel.
