When seeds are planted in the ground, the are covered in darkness. When seeds are planted in you, you become the seed. The Word of God is planted in good soil, then you need to be cultivated. You have to be put in the ground (die to self daily), watered (go through storms of life, seed needs to swell, (this is your stretching), then the seed needs to break open (your breaking) before roots can emerge (new life, new creation). The roots do not ascend, the descend further into the ground. The enemy wants you to believe everything is getting worse because it’s getting darker but it’s always darkest before the dawn.
