Epiphone jumbo fix and nut replace

This video shows the 2nd of Mark's two guitars - an Epiphone 'EJ' Jumbo. This was in for a fix (rescue and re-fit one of the two output jacks) and a new nut rather than a set up.

I was impressed by the voice of this guitar; a lovely tone despite having some old strings fitted. It's also had a pretty nice action as default. Very strongly built and with very little bellying on the top which which is quite rare considering it's located in the same humid part of the UK as me.

The video shows me replacing the nut and cutting new nut slots followed by going on the hunt inside the guitar for the 'fallen-in' jack socket. I improvised a tool to get it back out far enough to fit a new washer and nut (secured with a little blue thread lock compound).

An interesting little journey inside this great beast :-)

BTW - yes, I should have just sacrificed the jack plug in the first place but I had the magnetic bendy stick already so tried that first... Also, I was surprised to feel (and now see on video) that the underside of this bridge is grounded to earth. I've not seen this before and am not quite sure why the saddle or the string pins need grounding?
