HOW to use eBird to figure out WHEN to take your hummingbird feeders down in the fall!

Typically, I recommend that you should take your nectar feeders down once you haven't seen any hummingbirds for at least two weeks. But if you're not home during the day, it may be hard to know if any hummers are still around.

In this video, I use the Ruby-tailed Hummingbird as an example, since that is the only hummingbird that lives in eastern North American. For those of you in the west, there are many more species that might be migrating through your area. Make sure to change the species to either the Rufous, Black-chinned, Broad-tailed, or Calliope Hummingbird to check when their migration status.

eBird.org is a citizens science database that allows people to upload the birds they have observed.
