R2P: Exploring our Responsibility to Protect the People of Afghanistan

Fuelled by the withdrawal of U.S. troops and the Taliban take-over, the situation in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate every day. With ensuing humanitarian losses, the consequences are horrifying for the people in Afghanistan - especially for women and children who are most vulnerable in times of conflict and chaos.

On September 21, 2021, the Lincoln Alexander School of Law and the Canadian Centre for the Responsibility to Protect , convened leading experts to explore Canada's role and responsibility to protect the people of Afghanistan.

Speakers included Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji, Dr. Valerie Oosterveld, Dr. Jennifer Orange, Dr. Tina Park, Dr. Sanjay Ruparelia, Judge Albert Wong and a special video message from Ambassador Bob Rae.
