I have a lot of experience as a mechanical engineer and having watched a number of excellent videos on spraying water into the air intake of a running engine, to remove deposits of carbon, I thought it was worth testing this detergent inside our VW Sharan 1.9 TDI, which needed a boost as the idle revs were uneven and performance was not what I expected when we purchased it.
It also has a problem with going into intermittent limp mode. While the detergent spray did a fantastic job of purging all the excess carbon deposits from the engine, manifold, valves, pistons, catalytic converter and exhaust system, which was evident as a large cloud of black smoke from the exhaust after accelerating uphill, it did not cure the intermittent limp mode problem.
