4 Corners Opportunity Notice and RFI: Liability Biomass + CDR

The 4 Corners Carbon Removal Coalition combines the resources and energy of local governments to rapidly build demand for high impact and locally-rooted carbon removal innovation through catalytic project grants. In 2023, the first series of grant funding awarded $389,000 to 4 projects.

In January 2024, 4 Corners community partners Boulder County, the City of Flagstaff, the City of Salt Lake City, the City of Santa Fe, the City of Albuquerque, and Bernalillo County will seek proposals for projects that realize durable, verifiable carbon removal that also addresses local/regional sources of Liability Biomass.*

In this short webinar Ramón Alatorre (4 Corners Carbon Coalition co-founder and Director) and Chris Neidl (co-founder of both 4CCC and OpenAir), joined by representatives from the 6 participating local governments, will present an overview of this upcoming opportunity. Attendees will be invited to submit comments and questions in order to both clarify the initiative goals and terms, as well as further inform the scope and direction of the subsequent RFP this winter.

Carbon removal and liability biomass management companies and organizations, interested local government representatives, and anyone anywhere with an interest in this field are invited to join and learn.

*“Liability Biomass” refers to non-merchantable forest residues which tend to accumulate and increase vulnerability to wildfire. It could also conceivably refer to other sources of biomass that municipalities are struggling to manage and are looking for new solutions and partners.
