5 days surfing in Miyazaki Japan : A covid surf trip

So I had a dilemma on my hands. I had to work in Fukuoka Japan for 2 days but the 2 days were separated by 2 weeks. I had a choice to make, one made difficult by Covid; Do I fly home twice during the pandemic, or, do I stay in Kyushu? I opted to stay, but I wasn't going to do the hotel thing, instead I rented a small work grade van, made a few basic adjustments to make it livable and went off grid for 2 weeks looking for waves in Miyazaki. Van life Japan style kinda...lol
Miyazaki is Japan's surf mecca. In my 20 plus years of living in Japan, I have found that the people, the waves, and the prefecture of Miyazaki, are all about lifestyle. And they are very happy to embrace surfing, in a way that no other part of Japan has.
During this trip, I was caught in the path of a super typhoon, one for the record books, called Haishen. Luckily an awesome friend, JP, put me up in his guesthouse that basically overlooks Curren's point to ride out the storm and share some good cheer.
