Tony Bennett - "My Favorite Things"

October 1, 1968: Anthony Benedetto steps into CBS 30th Street Studio in New York to lay down six tracks for 'Snowfall,' his upcoming Christmas album (four songs having already been recorded in London during summer '67). Each song is arranged and conducted by Robert Farnon, including this smashing big band arrangement of the 'Sound of Music' standard which would become the album's kickoff track.
In his autobiography, 'The Good Life,' Bennett remembers that several great arrangers showed up to watch the NYC recording session, including Don Costa, Marion Evans, and Torrie Zito, and that when Quincy Jones later threw a party for Farnon, there were so many famous musicians that Quincy quipped, "If a bomb goes off in this apartment, there won't be any more records made!"
