"A man called Samuel came to me, he is not Luo but a Kikuyu religious leader, and he told me that the work that I was doing was not meant for me and that God had given me the work of helping women to give birth and help them during pregnancies and that this is the work that I would do until my death. So I started doing this work and in my dreams thereafter, I would see myself helping women with their pregnancies alone."

"We are losing about six thousand women annually and this translates as about sixteen to eighteen women dying on a daily basis. Almost every hour in Uganda we are losing one mother who is trying to give birth to yet another life and this is a tragedy. At the same time we know we are losing about 126 newborns per day."
