Contrary to many projects in the decentralized technology space, OpenBazaar does not use an underlying blockchain. It functions more like Bit Torrent rather than Ethereum. At the lowest level, the libp2p library allow clients to connect in a peer-to-peer network. Listing data text, images, reviews, etc.) are stored on IPFS, a decentralized file storage network. Blockchain is introduced at the payment layer as OpenBazaar only supports cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin and Zcash for payments.
