GPO to Remove Clock from the Taskbar | How to Remove Clock from the system notification area GPO

In this video, I’ll walk you through the steps to create a Group Policy Object (GPO) that removes the clock from the taskbar for users in a specific Organizational Unit (OU) named HybridJoin.

Step 1: Open Group Policy Management
🔹 Start by going to Start Menu ➡️ Windows Administrative Tools ➡️ Group Policy Management. This is where we’ll set up the GPO.

Step 2: Create a New GPO for the HybridJoin OU
🔹 In the Group Policy Management Console, expand your domain, techlab.com. Locate the HybridJoin OU, right-click it, and choose Create a GPO in this domain, and Link it here. Name the new GPO Remove Clock and click OK.

Step 3: Locate and Edit the GPO
🔹 Navigate to the Bismarck OU where our Remove Clock GPO is linked. Right-click the GPO, then select Edit.

Step 4: Configure the GPO to Remove the Clock
🔹 In the Group Policy Management Editor, go to User Configuration ➡️ Policies ➡️ Administrative Templates ➡️ Start Menu and Taskbar. Locate the setting. Remove the clock from the system notification area, right-click, and select Edit.

Step 5: Enable the Clock Removal Setting
🔹 In the settings window, select Enabled, then click Apply and OK. This change will remove the clock from the taskbar for all users within the HybridJoin OU.

Step 6: Test the Policy
🔹 To verify the policy is working, open PowerShell or Command Prompt and type gpupdate /force. Then, log out and back in with a user account that’s in the HybridJoin OU. You should see that the clock has been removed from the taskbar.

And that’s it! This simple GPO setting effectively controls the user interface in specific OUs.
