Experience where the inmates used to prepare the food grown in The Workhouse's vegetable plots and orchards. Built in 1824, The Workhouse was a last resort refuge for the poor and destitute. Its architecture was influenced by prison design and it operated a harsh regime. An interesting day out for the family with guided tours sharing the history and exhibitions that uncover the stories of the people that lived and worked at The Workhouse. Activities for the kids include children's trails, games and dress up in specially recreated costumes.
