Can the Critics Be Trusted? The dissonance of Bright and The Last Jedi

There is massive dissonance between the critic and audience reception of two recent movies - Bright, a "straight to streaming" blockbuster by Netflix, and The Last Jedi, which has a 40% spread between the critic and audience opinion of the film. Why does this spread exist, and does it mean critics ought not be trusted?
