Russell is regarded as the finest mind of his generation. Through our short glimpse of his life, he aided The Resistance against The Combine in a major way through his various pieces of technology, upbeat attitude and caring nature. While he is unheard of 5 years after Alyx Vance's journey, his actions still set up the building blocks to help City 17, Eli Vance and the eventual destruction of The Citadel.
