“I’ve Heard Worse” Trump Laughs Off China’s Hollywood Strike | Xi “Not Afraid” Of Tariffs | CRLCUT

As the US-China trade war heats up, Hollywood finds itself caught in the crossfire. The China Film Association has announced plans to curb imports of American films, linking the move to Washington’s aggressive tariff hikes. According to a TASS report, the agency stated that the US government’s misuse of tariffs damages goodwill, and warned that Chinese audiences may no longer look so kindly on American cinema. However China on April 11 announced it will impose 125% tariffs on US goods from Saturday, April 12, up from the 84% previously announced.
Earlier, Beijing refused to back down against Washington’s aggression, and its 84% tariffs on US imports came into effect on April 10. China has vowed to resist what it calls “coercive” tactics. A Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson reiterated that while Beijing remains open to dialogue, it will only negotiate on the basis of mutual respect and equality.
