When you’re talking about a quantify, measure or container OF something in German, you don’t need OF! In other words, where in English we’d say:

How much is a kilo of onions, in German it’s:

Was kostet ein Kilo Zwiebeln?

For me, please, a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

Für mch bitte, eine Tasse Kaffee und ein Stück Kuchen.
