Abridged Process of Repairing Burrs on Handboard Models
1. Preparation
Gather precision files, deburring knives, sandpapers (80 - 1000 grit), a sanding block, and a magnifying lamp. Secure the model on a workbench with clamps, wear safety goggles, gloves, and a dust mask, and clean the model to remove debris.
2. Rough Deburring
Use a deburring knife at a 30 - 45 - degree angle to remove large burrs. Then, select suitable files (flat for straight edges, half - round for rounded ones) to file along the model's contours, reducing burr bulk.
3. Fine Sanding
Start with 80 - 120 grit sandpaper, sanding in circular or back - and - forth motions. Progress through finer grits (180 - 1000) to refine the surface, focusing on detailed areas and checking with a magnifying lamp.
4. Cleaning and Inspection
Blow off dust with compressed air and wipe the model with alcohol - dampened cloth. Inspect under bright light and with a magnifying lamp, repeating sanding if needed.
5. Post - processing (Optional)
Apply primer, lacquer, or buffing compound as required for protection and finish.
