Warm and Humid, Increasing Rip Current Risk along the Gulf Coast: Sunday Evening Forecast 5/5/2024

Mixed cloud cover will continue through the rest of today with just some spotty showers in our northern spots. It was another warm day, and the warm and humid conditions will only continue throughout the week. Lows overnight will only drop to around 70 degrees. A brief shower is possible in our northern spots on Monday, but most everyone will stay dry. Highs will jump back into the mid- to upper-80’s. Winds will increase to around 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 20-25 by the middle of the week. This will increase our rip current risk to high by Tuesday, and the waters will stay rough through the end of the week. Stay out of the Gulf waters if you plan to spend time at the Gulf Coast beaches! Highs will climb into the upper-80’s and low-90’s by Thursday before a front arrives in the area. This front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms on Friday, but we will be drier by Saturday with cooler high and low temperatures. Sunday’s rain chances remain uncertain as an area of low pressure looks to develop offshore. If it stays well offshore, rain chances will be slim to none, but they will be higher if it is closer to the Gulf Coast.
