Welcoming our new family members!

Here's how our story goes...

So basically about 6 months ago, we've gotten 2 chicks about 1-month-old. The male we named Drumstick while the female, BlackBeauty.

Here's some eggs we collected from our layer hen. The reason why we incubated these eggs was because she hasn't learn how to be a broody hen until quite recently. However, just when she learnt to sit on her eggs, a misfortune took place one night where they were attacked and 2 eggs were eaten or smashed to the ground by what we supposed to be an 'intruder', leaving her with only 1 egg under her care. We could hear different tunes made by her the day after the incident, as though mourning for her chicks-to-be.

For safety reasons, we had to move them to their new home where they can be protected (especially the eggs), meaning that we also had to relocate the 2 adult chickens, thereby causing her to lose interest in brooding her remaining egg due to some disturbances (animals being animals). So we put the remaining egg into our incubator as well since she's not gonna sit on it anyway, leaving us with 10 eggs in total being incubated.

Out of the 10 eggs, 3 were incubated on the same day, 2 of the 3 were left outside, even exposed to some rain for few days before being incubated. Not much hope but they proved to be resilient chicks.

7 more to go. Will we see 7 more baby chicks? We shall wait and see then!
