Rhino 3D to Workshop: Making a Wood and Acrylic Sculpture

How to model and physically carve a complex minimal surface Trefoil Knot sculpture out of a solid block of wood or acrylic?

A minimal surface is a geometric shape that locally minimizes its total surface area subject to specific constraints. In this video, I take you through the complete process of designing this intricate mathematical geometry inside Rhino 3D, and then transitioning into my workshop to craft the physical piece. Watch the whole step-by-step workflow as I shape, cut, and polish a solid acrylic block to reveal the smooth, flawless curves of the final Trefoil Knot sculpture.

⚠️ SAFETY FIRST: Workshop cutting and polishing of plastics require proper safety precautions. Don't forget to wear eye protection, heavy-duty gloves, and a proper dust mask while cutting and sanding acrylic!
