Aiman's M.I.T CPW Vlog Finale | The Grandeur Of Killian Court, Study Under The Great Dome and More..

Even though the Campus Preview Weekend (CPW) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is designed to last 3.14 days, Aiman and his family had to leave early because his brother Hizami wanted to attend the preview weekend for Amherst College, which he also got accepted, and afterwards they have to head back to New Haven, Connecticut where Hizami will be attending a BullDog Day for Yale University.

In this Part 6 (finale) of the vlogs during M.I.T CPW, Aiman described the wild scenes at the academic expo which was held at the Ice Arena. Afterwards they went to listen to a presentation by one of the MIT professor on Computer Science & Electrical Engineering. They ended their day with a visit to Barker library to experience the awe of studying under the great dome. Just like everyone who visited MIT, Aiman and his family were also captivated by the grandeur of the Killian Court.

Aiman's brother Amir-Hizami was one of the 1410 students accepted to MIT Class of 2023.

Get to know current students and faculty members, meet and mingle with the Class of 2023, and dive headfirst into our vibrant and dynamic community. But most importantly, see how you fit into it all!

CPW 2019 was held on Thursday, April 11 through Sunday, April 14.

About Study, Calm or OM Under The Great Dome:

Located in the heart of campus, the Barker Engineering Library is home to one of MIT’s signature spaces. The main reading room of the Library is located on the fifth floor of Building 10, inside MIT’s Great Dome, and has served as a library reading room since 1916, when the Institute moved to Cambridge from Boston.

Students can enjoy the beauty of the restored room as well as other comforts — acoustic panels and a new sound-mitigation system help soften echoes and ambient noise, and comfortable chairs, large tables, and individual study carrels have also returned to the reading room. All of these make it a perfect space for quiet study any time of the day or night.

The Backstory of Killian Court:

Killian Court stretches out in front of the main building, which houses the president’s office. Though it’s officially named in honor of President Richard Cockburn Maclaurin, the driving force behind MIT’s move from Boston to Cambridge in 1916, students and staff still call it Building 10.

To complete the numerology of 10, the Great Dome is supported by 10 beautiful Ionic Greek columns—recalling the first 10 presidents of MIT beginning with our founder, William Barton Rogers, and ending with James Rhyne Killian Jr. ’26. Anyone who doubts that Killian Court is a special place should spend a quiet moment in this site of Frisbee competitions, freshman picnics, special convocations, and commencement exercises, pondering the seamless, symbiotic connection it makes between buildings devoted to science and engineering.
