Seventh Day Adventist Church Cooking Demo May 1 2016
Families from Fall River and Somerset with little access to transportation were invited by members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church on North Main Street to watch a healthy cooking demonstration, get their hair cut and styled and give their children some healthy activity on May 1, 2016. Partners Community Outreach Manager Jack Shipley organized the event with the help of volunteers from the Church and transportation funding from a Vela Foundation grant. Dietetic Intern Lexi Cournoyer gave a step-by-step demonstration on how to make a sweet potato with a chili topping and broccoli. Volunteers from Salon 812, Vanitay Salon and Spa and Giselle Hair Studio were also on hand to cut and style hair and staff from the HealthFirst Dental Program and the WIC Program were also available.
