Italy has finished 6th five times at Eurovision (most recently in 2017), more than any other country.

There is no official 6th place for nine of the contests – 1956, 1958, 1961, 1963, 1964, 1970, 1974, 1984, 1987, and 2004. In 1956 only the winner, Switzerland, was announced. In 1958, 1961, 1963, 1984, 1987, 2004 two songs shared fifth place by achieving the same number of points. In 1970 and 1974 three songs shared fourth place by achieving the same number of points.
