Mercedes V12 Teardown! 5.8L M137 S600/CL600. Did I Just Tear Down A Good Engine?
Want to see a particular engine torn down? I may have already done one! I've done well over 20 other teardowns from Cummins to an LS7, and from Rotary to Ram Ecodiesels. Check them out here https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIYwo7JlrVQVg32JL-r4H7dfMxMqzWlVa
My name is Eric and I own and run a full service auto salvage business called Importapart located in the Saint Louis MO area. Part of our model is dismantling and selling parts from rare and niche market engines. If you're interested in buying parts from this engine or the other engines I've torn down, email us at Importapartsales@gmail.com.
In this video, I teardown a 5.8L V12, known as a Mercedes M137, found in the 2001-2002 S600 and CL600. This is a 360hp, 3v per cylinder, SOHC, with variable displacement, a pretty early engine to have this system. Since these cores don't always have a story, I never know what to expect when I get them apart. Sometimes they're complete destroyed, and sometimes I scratch my head. This engine was surprisingly easy to disassemble, the only "difficult" aspect are the sheer volume of bolts and the fact that every single bolt is an external torx. Every. Single. One.
As always, I appreciate all of the feedback, suggestions and even the criticism, I love it all.
Catch you on the next one!
