How to improve your seat in canter with Kirstin Kelly.
How to improve your seat in canter with Kirstin Kelly. This is my last video with poor sound quality, thank you for your understanding. To make it easier, try putting sub-titles on.
You will often hear people say they need to sit deeper in the saddle at the canter but this is totally the wrong answer. In this video, Kirstin shows how sitting with lightness, suppleness in the hips and engagement of the core helps the rider sit to the canter smoothly with little bounce. Improving your seat in the canter is lots of practice but in the words of George Morris " practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice does". So if your tight and stiff and practicing a-lot of canter, then your horse will end up sore and unhappy. Watch this video and figure out where you are holding your tension or if your core is weak and keep reminding yourself to flow with the stride and stay following with your hips. If your horse has a difficult canter to sit with, make sure you give him lots of rests on a long rein and try hopping up in two-point position to help him relax his back and neck.
