Watch 30 tonne military vehicles achieve impressive off-road performance

Video showing re-engineered Mastiff and Ridgback heavy armoured vehicles achieving off-road performance to match light patrol vehicles during the Millbrook trials in the UK in 2020 before they were sent to Mali, Africa to support Operation Newcombe, the British Army’s ongoing contribution to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation mission.

The vehicles feature new suspension and drivetrain systems with central tyre inflation and adaptable ride height control. Along with new wheels and larger tyres for off road terrain.

Performance improvements include achieving off-road speeds of over 50km/h, inclines of 60% and significantly enhanced hill climbing, gap crossing and wading capabilities. Whilst reduced vehicle noise and vibration have improved crew comfort.

The vehicle upgrade is part of the UK MoD’s Protected Mobility Engineering & Technical Support Contract led by NP Aerospace as prime contractor.
