Classic Yacht Empress
41' 1952 The Matthews Company Double Cabin with Flybridge EMPRESS is a fine example of one final design change at The Matthews Company under the direction of founder Scott J. Matthews in conjunction with his son Carl Matthews who was to take over as skipper of the company upon the passing of Scott in 1956. Notable are is the change from the straight shear line, a distinctive design feature of Matthews Stock Cruisers since 1924, to a raised deck forward. The introduction of the Double Cabin was touted as a move to providing a "Modern Cruiser" for the discerning skipper.
