Mollies How To Prepare Your Chair for Upholstery

Are you about to attend a Mollies Make & Create chair upholstery workshop? Here is how to prepare your chair before attending class.

Gather together a flathead screwdriver (or staple remover), scissors, pliers, hammer or mallet and tape measure before you start. Other tools you might require is a tack remover, phillips screw driver, spanner, craft knife, allen keys etc.

Take lots of photos during this process. When removing the fabric panels, start with the last thing that was upholstered, and work backwards.

These arms have wooden plugs covering the screws. You need to remove the wooden plugs without damaging the outer frame. Do not attempt to pry out the plugs so you can reuse them, otherwise you will gouge the arms. Replacement wooden plugs are readily available and not very expensive. Buy them from our website at www.mollies.nz.

For now, keep all the fabric panels and the reuseable foam. Keep any springs in place.

Mollies Make & Create teach upholstery and sell upholstery supplies in New Zealand.
