Purnendu Patri (sometimes Anglicised as Purnendu Pattrea) was an Indian poet, writer, editor, artist, illustrator, and film director. He was best known for his poems and stories, particularly for his poetry collection kothopokothon in Bengali, and for his experimentation with book cover design. He also was a researcher of the history of Kolkata.

If there is any vehicle which expresses human emotions in myriad colours, it is poetry. I am Anindita Bhowmick, an avid reader of Bengali poems, as varied in their style of composing as the illustrious poet Tagore, Jibanananda, Nazrul Islam to Mallika, Subodh Sarkar, Purnendu Potri, Joy Goswami.
