Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh Testing on Wet at Imola!

After all, it wasn't so sci-fi to hope to capture the Cadillac V-Series.R in the calm of a test day here in Italy. A couple of days ago Cadillac Racing was at Imola Circuit to test their LMDh car ahead of the 2024 season, during which the Italian track will host a round of the FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship). And they opted to showcase the car in all its glory, in an exposed gloss carbon fiber finish.

I was at the second day, out of two, of testing. This video is all about the afternoon when a couple of rain showers wet the track allowing the team to test the V-Series.R in those conditions. Full dry footage coming soon!

The Cadillac has been developed under the "Le Mans Daytona h" (LMDh) regulations which allows it to be fielded alongside Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) entries in the Hypercar class of the FIA WEC or in the GTP class of the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Compared to Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) rule set, in which there's much more freedom in designing the car, LMDh teams are forced to rely on one of the 4 chassis manufacturers chosen by ACO and IMSA (Dallara, Ligier, Multimatic and Oreca) in order to have a base from which to build their own vehicle. Cadillac continued their partnership with Dallara, taking most of the experience from their previous DPi-V.R into the new project.

The V-Series.R is powered by a Cadillac LMC55R 5.5-litre DOHC V8 linked to a 7-speed sequential gearbox and to the mandatory 50kW hybrid system.
