WATCH: Schumer speaks after Senate acquits Trump | Trump's first impeachment

Trump's first impeachment - 2020

Speaking shortly after the U.S. Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump of two articles of impeachment, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters that he was proud of his Democratic colleagues even though they were outvoted. “We did everything we could to get the truth,” Schumer said. “I believe that the American people will know who stood in the way of truth, who were afraid of the facts, who covered up,” he added. On Feb. 5, the Senate declared Trump “not guilty” on two charges--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Only Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, broke from his party to vote “guilty” on the abuse of power charge.
