8 Week Old Baby - Your Baby’s Development, Week by Week

Here's more about week 8 ➜ https://wk2wk.com/b8

It’s one big party this week. Baby’s talking up a storm. And mama and papa might be ready to get it on again.

8 Week Old Baby Milestones 👶
This week, you may notice your little one making more and more noise! These noises may be in the form of cooing, grunting, and humming—they’re all part of her language development. Be sure to “talk back,” as studies show that this back-and-forth dialogue can actually help your baby’s language development.

Physically, you may still see a few patches of cradle cap on your baby’s head. Here are some ways to help it go away, naturally. You may also notice your little one using her forearms to help steady herself and raise her head up off the floor. This is huge for baby’s motor development! These little movements are strengthening the muscles she’ll need to crawl in the upcoming months.

You at 8 Weeks Postpartum 👩
Have you had sexy time yet?
At this stage, your baby can accept a bottle without nipple confusion—yay! (If you haven’t tried bottle feeding yet, here are the best bottles for breastfed babies.) If you can find a babysitter, now would be a great time to get out for a romantic date night with your partner.

At eight weeks postpartum, many women have been given the ‘okay’ to resume sexual activity as well (yay again!). Some women may feel excited and happy to have sex; others won’t have a sexy bone in their body. The truth is, some people take a little longer to heal physically, mentally, and emotionally from childbirth—that’s perfectly ok. It’s a lot to recover from.

I found with the near constant breastfeeding, I needed to have “alone time” with my body—sex just felt like giving away too much. Plus, with all of the hormonal changes, some women don’t have strong libidos until later in the postpartum period.

Do know that, in most cases, this stage will pass. By three to four months postpartum, once baby is in a good groove and sleeping more at night, most moms will feel ready for (and excited about) regular sex again. The most important thing is to have open communication with your partner and to take it slow if you need to.
