ThyssenKrupp unveils the world’s first sideways-moving elevator system

The world's first fully functional rope-less, horizontal-vertical elevator system has been installed at a purpose-built innovation test tower in Rottweil, Germany.

Called Multi, the groundbreaking system has been developed by German elevator manufacturer ThyssenKrupp and was first previewed on Dezeen in December 2014.

The design features multiple magnetised cabins that operate in the same shaft on an electromagnetic track.
