How Strong is the Chinese Navy?

This is a guide to the surface warships of the Chinese PLA Navy, which has seen exponential growth over the past decade. We look at aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates, corvettes, and amphibious warfare ships.
We examine surface units only, so no submarines or support vessels. We count all warships that are currently in service, or are expected to be commissioned in 2022, but no later.
