Nearly 700,000 S. Koreans receive monthly pensions exceeding 1 mil. Korean won

국민연금 월 100만원 이상 받는 사람 70만명 육박

Nearly 700-thousand South Koreans are receiving a national pension of over 1 million Korean won per month.
According to figures released by the National Pension Service on Friday, as of December 2023, over 687-thousand recipients were receiving this amount.
The vast majority, around 680-thousand, are getting old-age pensions.
About 4-thousand-500 receive survivor benefits and another 2-thousand get disability pensions.
Of the old-age pension recipients, over 70 percent have been contributing to the national pension scheme for over 20 years.
About 18 thousand people receive monthly pensions of at least 2 million won.
