#CivilTV: Sanaa Lathan's New Netflix Film 'Nappily Ever After' Is "A Modern Fairytale" For All Women

Sanaa Lathan has committed to a number of roles over the span of her more than 20-year career as an actress, but never have fans seen her as stripped-down and bare-boned as she appears in her new Netflix movie, Nappily Ever After.

Based on the 1998 book of the same title by Trisha Thomas, Nappily Ever After follows Violet Jones, a woman who is tired of waiting for her longtime boyfriend to propose so she breaks up with him. But old feelings, and heaps of jealousy, arise when he promptly begins dating another woman. Suddenly, Violet decides to shave her entire head, which then leads her through a journey of changes as she comes to rediscover who she really is and what she wants in life.

We caught up with the 47-year-old during the Nappily Ever After red carpet premiere in Los Angeles, where she talked to us about her exciting role, the experiences she learned while filming the film, and much more.
