Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs P20 Pro | Side-by-side comparison

We compare Huawei's fresh Mate 20 Pro with the excellent P20 Pro, two of the biggest and best Android smartphones of 2018. How does the Mate 20 Pro improve on the P20's camera tech, and does it win for speed, battery chops and EMUI 9 features?

The Mate 20 Pro is an absolutely stunning phone, with a huge 6.4-inch OLED screen, Huawei's latest EMUI software and that blazing fast Kirin 980 chipset. You also get a huge 4200mAh battery, with 40W SuperCharge and wireless charging support. Meanwhile the P20 Pro is still going strong, despite the older Kirin 970 specs and a lack of wireless charging. Both Huawei phones compare favourably for media abilities, while those EMUI 9 features will be coming to the P20 Pro soon.

However, the Mate 20 Pro also improves on that tri-lens camera tech, offering a new ultra-wide-angle lens and new features. And the Mate's in-screen fingerprint sensor and 3D modelling camera are truly impressive.
