Dell Inspiron 3531 replace hard disk with a SSD

This video shows how I replaced the Dell Inspiron 3531 500Gb hard disk for a Corsair 120Gb SSD.

You need a USB 2.5 inch sata hard disk enclosure. Put the new SSD disk in it and attach it to the laptop.

The steps I took:
- Start up the new laptop
- Configure it for first use
- Install EaseUs Partition Master 10.1
- Install Macrium Reflect FREE Edition
- Run Partition Master, shrink the 450Gb partition to 100000Mb.
- Reboot and partition will be resized and takes around a minute, all 6 partition that exist will now fit on the SSD.
- Run Macrium Reflect FREE Edition
- Clone, source: all partitions of HD1, target: the SSD disk in the USB case. Select option: enhance for SSD. Start. Wait for around 40 minutes. Some partitions will be copied sector by sector.
- Once done you can open up the laptop and replace the harddisk as shown. Restart and hope you cloned the disk correctly.
