Black-throated Finch and Northern Quoll

Imagine my surprise when I went to the bathroom in a safari tent at Jabiru (Mareeba) Wetlands and found a Northern Quoll looking me square in the eyes! It turns out this is a stronghold for this species. Elsewhere in Australia, populations have suffered from the poisonous Cane Toads. We were visited two nights in a row by this cute little fella. We also had Rufous Bettongs bounce past as we sipped local mango wine on the verandah. By day, we traveled with local bushman 'Chuck' to see birds like Black-throated Finch and the local variant of Brown Treecreeper - 'Black-backed Treecreeper' - an odd bird that looks and behaves more like a White-browed.The video of the quoll was taken using a Canon 550D with a Sigma 100-300mm f2.8 lens and 1.4x teleconverter. The Black-throated Finch and Black-backed Treecreeper video were taken through a Swarovski HD80 with universal camera adaptor and a Canon 50mm f1.8 II lens.
